World Championship for Young Roofers
The 24th World Championship for Young Roofers took place in Lucerne, Switzerland with the UK being represented by Matt Timby, Stephen Harkin, Sam Hall and Tom Peck. The team embraced the challenge of working with materials and techniques not commonly used in the UK to win the Presidential Prize for their work during the freestyle task.
In the run-up to the competition, Bauder was delighted to support the team’s preparation by providing access to its bespoke training facility and an instructor, Paul Adderley, for membrane roofing to prepare them for the championship contest; all under the watchful eye of mentor Gary Warpole, National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC). The material selected for use in the single ply waterproofing section of the competition was Bauder Thermoplan FPO. This membrane represents the new generation of single ply membrane types and requires a comprehensive understanding of single ply installation to achieve a perfect competition standard result.
The team will be recognised at The Roofing Awards Congress in May 2013 which is hosted by the NFRC, the UK’s largest roofing trade association.
