Bauder Supports 'No Christmas Card Appeal'

Bauder has once again joined forces with CRASH, the construction industries' charity for homeless people, to support their 'No Christmas Card Appeal', where companies are asked to send digital Christmas cards and then donate the money saved on buying printed cards and stamps to the charity. Bauder has already donated £1000 to this year's appeal. Now in its tenth year this fundraising initiative has experienced great success and continuous growth each year, helping raise over £50,000 last year alone. CRASH receives no government funding and relies on donations from patron members and initiatives like this to cover its core running costs.

Recent studies have shown that this year rough sleeping figures have risen in England by 14% and that more than half of teenagers leaving local authority care are being placed in unsafe accommodation for long periods, so initiatives like this are crucial in generating the funds to provide a safe, secure and supportive environment to help homeless young adults grow and develop. Examples of the type of buildings constructed by CRASH and its patron members are; emergency night shelters, hostels, day centres and hospices. This year alone CRASH’s provision of professional expertise, donated building materials and cash grants have already benefited over 60 projects.

In addition to the ‘No Christmas Card Appeal’, Bauder is also currently involved in assisting with the construction of a number of housing projects in London and Cambridge, and also regularly donates everyday essential items that many of us take for granted such as toothbrushes, deodorant and shampoo to the charity.

Bauder’s Managing Director, Andrew Mackenzie, had this to say about the No Christmas Card initiative: “In today’s digital environment many people already prefer to send communication electronically rather than by post, so donating the money that we would have used to buy printed cards makes a lot of sense and is a great opportunity to help others less fortunate than ourselves. Being a long-standing patron partner of CRASH it provides us with many opportunities to help homeless people in a practical and tangible way and we will proactively continue to do so in the future, whether it is donating time, money or our roofing products.”
