York Hospital Remains Operational During Roofing Works York Hospital NHS Foundation Trust called upon roofing expert Bauder to refurbish the 2000sq metre failing roof above the Oncology Ward. The roof was shrouded in equipment, ventilation, plant and ductwork to create a very challenging project. The ward had to remain functional throughout all works and completed during the winter months.

The original saturated roofing system was completely removed and replaced with a cold liquid applied waterproofing to enable the high levels of complex detailing to be accommodated.

With works carried out in temperatures as low as -5°C, all arising issues had to be dealt with promptly and efficiently.

Peter Ulliott, York Hospital Building Services Manager, said: “Working with Bauder on this most difficult of roofs gave everything I envisaged from a roofing manufacturer; the knowledge and expertise to specify the correct waterproofing solution from their extensive portfolio of systems; to solve any on-site issues quickly without evading any responsibility; a dedicated service and a budget cost that was accurate from the outset.”
