Reflecting on 2022

Bauder wishes you the best of season's greetings and a prosperous New Year. The office will be closed for Christmas from the 22nd of December, re-opening on the 4th of January.

As 2023 draws upon us, it is a fantastic time to reminisce about all the great initiatives and achievements that 2022 has brought us.

Pancake day
We had some flipping fun with our pancake competition, catching them before they crêped out. Of course, there were prizes on offer for the best pancake stack, the best presented, and the best pancake shape.
 

Mental health awareness week
Statistics state that one in four of us feel lonely sometimes or all of the time, which is why loneliness was the focus during Mental Health Awareness Week. The reach-out day encouraged the team to pick up their phones or move from their desks to talk to someone and share how they are feeling, to help alleviate the stigma of loneliness.
 

My Miles My Way
Undertaking the company challenge ‘My Miles My Way’ to collectively move a total of 2209 miles across 7 days. Why 2209 miles? To hypothetically tour around the Bauder manufacturing plants across Europe, returning to Bauder UK HQ. The challenge wasn’t just completed, it was smashed in true Bauder style, with a detour of 1988 miles included. Collectively we achieved a total of 4197 miles!
 

Boating fun
In alignment with the roll out of the Bauder Philosophy, to launch ‘Commonly Agreed Goals ‘ as part of the Philosophy, Departments throughout the business arranged their boat fun to reach their agreed goals in their unique ways. With some teams racing along the river, and others cruising along, it was all great fun to bring the Bauder philosophy to life. 


Beach / Park Clean up
Many people across all departments got involved with a local clean-up of any park or beach within their area to help create a happier, cleaner, and greener place to live and enjoy. This was individually or in groups during lunch breaks and after work to collect litter and rubbish within our local areas. For each bag of litter collected, a tree will be planted. 

The charitable activities don’t just stop during work hours for some of the team. There has been great involvement from many people dedicating their spare time to raise money for great causes.
 

Positive affirmations week
The Bauder team was encouraged to share a positive affirmation daily to provide uplifting and inspiring quotes.
Negative thoughts are common, and when we talk to ourselves like this it affects our mood and confidence. Affirmations give you the power to change your negative thinking patterns and replace them with positive thinking patterns. Positive thoughts have the power to motivate you to act on certain things, help you increase your self-confidence, and concentrate on making positive changes to achieve your goals in life.
 

Stakeholder events
Over the year there has been a range of events organised for our approved contractors, clients, and project stakeholders. These included golf, shooting, football tournaments, technical CPDs, and insight days.
 

Oktoberfest Party
Following our German roots, the Executive team organised a fantastic Oktoberfest party, the first whole company in-person event since before COVID. The event was kitted out in the traditional festival style with Bavarian outfits, pretzels, steins, bratwurst, a live band, and fun fair games.
 

Awards received

SPRA award
Marlborough College took home two awards at the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) Awards 2022. This single ply project won the award for Best Refurbishment 2020 and Best Detailing 2020.
 

Morgan Sindall Supply Chain Award
This award recognised the support we provided to help launch the Knowledge Quad at Kingsbrook Secondary School in Aylesbury. Working collectively to provide training and promote careers in construction to the next generation, our excellent preconstruction cost program and our design input were acknowledged for many projects across the Morgan Sindall London & Home Counties Business.
 

Growing the Bauder family into 2023

Over the course of the year, Bauder has introduced a number of new growth posts across the business and welcomed nearly 40 new members of staff. We’d like to thank the team for all their hard work and dedication, especially through unprecedented times. We look forward to seeing what 2023 has to bring.
