Blacklock re-elected as SPRA Technical Chair

Following their recent election, the Singly Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) have announced that Bauder technical director Nigel Blacklock has been re-elected as the Technical Chair. SPRA, which is the trade association representing the UK’s single ply roofing industry, has become an increasingly influential voice in the flat roofing sector. Working closely with its members and sister trade associations, SPRA continues to raise the manufacturing and installation standards of the UK roofing industry as well as constantly raising the profile of single ply technology.

Coinciding with Nigel’s re-election, SPRA announced two further changes to its leadership team as Ronan Brunton replaces soon to retire from SPRA Jim Hooker as Technical Manager and Stephen Duffy of Topek Ltd also becomes the first ever Vice Chair of the Technical Committee. Speaking about his recent re-election Nigel commented: “I am very pleased to continue in the role and grateful to all those that voted for me to remain, I did not want to outstay my welcome. This next 12 months is going to be very important for SPRA as Jim Hooker (Mr SPRA) retires from his role at SPRA and we have the transition with his successor Ronan Brunton who has some huge shoes to fill. Hopefully I can ease the transition by bringing some stability and assist Cathie and Ronan where I can.”

SPRA CEO Cathie Clarke equally shared her delight with Nigel’s re-election: “Nigel has an incredible knowledge of the sector and his experience working on SPRA, British and European Standards, and his representation on many industry bodies is invaluable to our trade association. I would like to thank Nigel for his continuing commitment to SPRA and think that this continuity will be helpful as we welcome our new Technical Manager, Ronan Brunton.”
