A very real challenge...
A common problem across the industry is that photovoltaic systems are often installed on roofs that have an old waterproofing membrane or thermal insulation that does not comply with the latest energy saving regulations. In overall energy terms, such a combination does not work: on the one hand, energy is gained through the photovoltaic system, while on the other hand the potential energy saving is cancelled out by the lack of proper thermal insulation.
