A brand new school on the outskirts of Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk was built to accommodate 1,600 students. The project was designed and managed by Concertus Design & Property Consultants on behalf of Suffolk County Council, who wanted the school to act as a benchmark for sustainability with the building’s roofs playing an integral part in achieving this through the inclusion of solar panels.

The Bauder green roof on Sharrow Primary School in Sheffield was the first in the country to be declared a nature reserve. A fitting accolade for a school that defies traditional ideas of what a school should be.

Sheringham High School is a secondary school with academy status located in Norfolk that underwent significant refurbishment to repair a number of its failing roofs. The client wanted the school’s campus to act as a benchmark for sustainability and therefore saw this as the perfect opportunity to achieve this with the addition of solar panels.

The client wanted the roof of this new building to not only be of the highest quality but also designed to be aesthetically pleasing and echo the ethos of the school based upon respecting your environment. Insulation needed to be incorporated into the roof build-up in order to satisfy building regulations and work hours had to be agreed to keep disruption to a minimum. The work also had to be completed to strict deadlines to ensure that the school would be open in time for the start of its inaugural term at its new location in Hazeley.

Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre is an academy located on the outskirts of Reading that had been experiencing early signs of water ingress. The school building consists of eight roof areas on a variety of different pitches equating to over 5,200m2 in total.

Robert Bloomfield Academy is a middle school situated in Shefford, Bedfordshire that has approximately 800 pupils aged from 9 to 13 years old.

Airedale Academy is a secondary school and sixth form located in Castleford. As a result of a comprehensive Bauder roof survey it was identified that all of the original waterproofing at the academy had exceeded its serviceable life and was experiencing water ingress
